- If you use 2 computers you can connect within a router or a cable ( the best is router)  but if you face a problem with the router change it to a cable and vise verse.

- After you connect the two computers physically, make sure that their IPs in the subnet ( for example: 192.168.1.4 and 192.168.1.70).

Then Ping the IP from each computer to see if they see each other or not.

Finally, to make sure about the connection do Net view to see what you have in your network.

- Please, and please and please refresh your information that you have taken in Network1 course to avoid the problems in connecting 2 computers

- Notes about connect the server with the client:

• After you make a network between the server and the client go to Network Places to check that the 2 PCs see each other. If not check how you have make your network (you missed something).
• On the client PC assign the primary DNS to your server IP and the secondary one assign it to your router IP.
• On the client PC also, go to the computer name and choose the domain name ( you can just write the name of the domain - for example AB - if the full name of the domain doesn’t work - AB.edu.sa -) *

* make sure that your account in the client PC is an admin not a guest.

How to install the Active Directory:

1- Make sure that your computer on a network ( either your computer connect with other computer or connect to the internet )

** Note: It doesn’t matter if you are connecting to the internet by your Windows xp or Vista not the Windows Server2003.

2- Make sure that you have inserted Windows Server 2003 CD in your CD drive.

3- Follow these steps:

- Start Windows Server 2003

- From Start menu click on Run

- Write: dcpromo then click ok

- Follow the Wizard steps and don’t forget to name the Domain Controller :

(yourfullname.AB.edu.sa)

- If you face a DNS problem, choose the option : that you will give it a static IP .

- Give your computer any IP from your router range.

- Give The primary DNS an IP same as your computer . And the secondary DNS give it your router IP.

** في حالة وجود أي مشكلة مع Virtual Machine ولم تتمكني من حلها -ولاختصار الوقت- , إلجئ إلى تثبيت WS2003 بالطريقة الثانية وهي تثبيته على القرص D أو أي قرص آخر مختلف عن الـC الذي يحوي نظامك الحالي.

وإذا كان قرصك الصلب فقط C قسميه إلى عدة أجزاء ثم ثبتي الـ WS2003 على الـD

** If the Task Manager opened when you click (Alt+Ctrl+Del) to log in WS2003

Click the other Alt or Del or Ctrl in you keyboard and you will log in

Reboot and Select proper Boot device

or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device_

لحل ذلك عليك اتباع الخطوات التالية

In the Virtual PC consol click on Setting

then click on the CD drive

remove the check

الآن سيعتبر الCD Drive كــ Primary Controller وليس Secondary كما كان في السابق

الآن أدخلي Windows Server 2003 CD وأكملي الخطوات اللازمة

** إذا كنت قد واجهتِ مشكلة واستعطتِ حلها الرجاء كتابتها هنا

** كذلك في حال وجود أي مشاكل أثناء التحميل
